What your mailbox does
Auteur is the mailbox. Henry is the assistant inside it. This is what happens to every piece of mail you receive.
Opened and scanned
Every letter is opened and scanned as a searchable PDF. Scanning is part of your plan, so you never pay to see your own mail.
Explained in your language
Henry reads each letter and tells you what it says and what to do next. Summaries come in English, Korean, or Spanish.
You see it before we open it
You get a photo of every envelope first. Junk mail is filtered out for you and never counts against your plan.
Set a rule once
Scan everything on arrival, flag anything from the IRS, and get an email the moment it lands. You set it one time and it keeps running.
See it working
These are screens from the Auteur software we are building, shown with sample mail. The letter is a real IRS notice type, and the summary is Henry's.

Product preview. The software is in development, and screens show sample mail, not a live account.
Simple pricing
We count one thing: pieces of mail. Opening, scanning, Henry's summary, shredding, and storage (30 days for letters and packages alike) are included with every piece.

How it works
From reservation to your first scanned letter, in five steps.
Reserve your city
Pick San Francisco, Silicon Valley, or Los Angeles and reserve free. Your founding price is locked from that day.
We open your city
We are preparing each location now. You get an email the day your address is ready.
Verify your identity online
US law requires USPS Form 1583 for every mailbox. We walk you through it step by step, and we are building it to work from outside the US.
Your mail starts arriving
Use your new address for your business and your accounts. Henry scans and explains each piece as it comes in.
Forward, shred, or store
Ask us to forward anything for actual postage plus $2. Everything is stored 30 days, then handled free after we email you.
Opening first in California
Each city gets real street addresses in commercial buildings, never a P.O. Box. Your exact address is assigned when your city opens, and reserving holds your place in line.
Why Auteur
Auteur publishes The Auteur Brief and The Field Guide, where we explain the US market against primary sources. The mailbox comes from the same team. We have run cross-border mail operations in Asia for years, and we build the mailbox software ourselves.
Founders outside the US are who we built this for. That is why Henry speaks your language, and why our onboarding is being built so USPS Form 1583 works from anywhere.
Everything it does, side by side

Frequently asked questions
When do you open?
We are opening in California first: San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles. We would rather not promise a date we can't keep. Reservation holders get the exact opening date by email before anyone else.
Does reserving cost anything?
No. Reserving is free, with no card and no commitment. It locks your founding price and your place in line. If you change your mind later, you can simply ignore the launch email.
What counts as one piece of mail?
One envelope or package received at your address. Everything we do with that piece is included: opening, scanning, Henry's summary, shredding, and storage for 30 days, letters and packages alike.
What is USPS Form 1583?
It is the federal form every US mailbox customer signs so an agent can legally receive mail for them. We are building our onboarding so you can complete it from outside the US, and we will walk you through it at launch.
Can I use the address for my business?
Yes, that is what it is designed for. Your address will be a real commercial street address, built to serve as your business mailing address. Requirements differ by state and by institution, so we document exactly what the address is, and you can check the fit for your specific filing.
What happens after my included pieces?
Each additional piece is $3, and it still gets the same scan, summary, and storage. Monthly allowances reset each billing cycle. Forwarding is always actual postage plus $2 per shipment.
Can you deposit checks?
Yes. Check deposit is a flat $2 per check. Where your bank supports remote deposit we deposit it electronically, and otherwise we mail the check to your bank with postage included. There is no percentage of the amount and no monthly minimum.
What is the difference between recipients and users?
Recipients are the names on the envelope, and they are unlimited and free: you, your company, your co-founder, a DBA registered to your box. One postal rule: each adult receiving personal mail completes their own free USPS Form 1583, and we walk them through it. Users are the people who sign in to read and manage the mailbox. The plan includes 1 user, and each additional user is $20 a month, with no cap.
