The job, in plain language
When you form an LLC or a corporation, the state requires you to name a registered agent: a person or company with a physical address in that state, available during business hours, who can legally accept two kinds of paper on your behalf. The first is service of process, which means lawsuit papers. The second is official state mail, like compliance notices and annual report reminders.
It is a serious job. If a process server cannot reach your agent, a lawsuit can proceed without you hearing about it in time. If a compliance notice goes unread, your company can fall out of good standing. Our registered agent service exists so neither happens: the paper is received in your state, and you see it the same day in the same inbox as everything else, wherever in the world you are.

Do the registered agent address and my business address stay separate?
Yes, and they should. The registered agent address in your state of formation goes on the state filing. Your Auteur business address goes on everything else: banks, platforms, invoices, vendors. Two roles, two addresses, one inbox.
A registered agent's yearly fee looks cheaper than a mailbox. Why pay for both?
Because they receive different mail. An agent covers state and legal documents only; your bank letters, IRS notices, platform verifications, and vendor mail go to your business address. The agent keeps you in good standing, and the mailbox runs your actual mail. Comparing the two prices is comparing a smoke alarm to a kitchen.
