Where you can use this address
Short answers to what people ask right before they order.
- Your state filing: Use it as your business address on the filing with Virtual Business Address. Requirements differ by state, so we document exactly what the address is.
- Your EIN application: Use it as the business address on the application.
- A business bank account: Many banks accept a commercial street address on an application. Each bank decides for itself, so we tell you what the address is rather than promise the outcome.
- Receive, scan, and forward your mail: 30 or 60 incoming mail items a month with a photo of every envelope. Open and scan is $1.99 per piece, only when you ask, on every plan. Forwarding is actual postage with no handling fee.
- Registered agent address: A separate service. We offer registered agent service in all 50 states, with founding pricing announced before launch. Your business address and your agent address are two different things.
- Mail in a business or trade name on Virtual Mailing Address: It is business mail, so it cannot be accepted on that plan and goes back to the sender. To receive mail in a business name, choose Virtual Business Address.

What happens after I click Get your address?
We email you the next steps, usually within 24 hours. Nothing is charged on this page and you do not enter card details here. Your founding price and your place in line are locked from that email. If you change your mind, you can simply ignore it.
Is anything charged today?
No. No card is collected on this site. Payment happens only when your city opens and you choose to start service, at the founding price you see here.
When does my city open?
We are opening city by city and we do not promise dates we cannot keep. Everyone who orders hears the exact opening date by email before anyone else, and your exact street address is assigned the day the city opens.
What is the difference between Virtual Mailing Address and Virtual Business Address?
Virtual Mailing Address is for personal mail: individual recipient names only, and mail addressed to a business or trade name (LLC, Corp, or DBA) cannot be accepted on it. Virtual Business Address receives mail addressed to your business or trade name plus individual recipient names, and you can use it as your business address. Everything else, including the scan price, is the same.
Can I get Virtual Business Address as an individual?
Yes. It is for personal and business mail. A sole proprietor, a freelancer with a DBA, or an LLC can all use it; the plan simply lets your mail be addressed to a business or trade name as well as to you.
What happens if a letter for my LLC arrives at a Virtual Mailing Address?
It is business mail, so it cannot be accepted on that plan and goes back to the sender. To receive mail in a business name, choose Virtual Business Address.
How does scanning work, and what does it cost?
When mail arrives we photograph the envelope and email you. If you want to read it, ask us to open and scan it: $1.99 per piece on every plan, with no per-page fee, and the scan comes back as a searchable PDF with a plain-language summary.
Can I sign up from outside the US?
Yes. Auteur is built for founders outside the US as well as US residents. US law requires USPS Form 1583 before any provider can receive mail on your behalf, and we are building our onboarding so you can complete it from anywhere. Nothing is needed to order.
